Team Canada Among Best Dressed at PyeongChang 2018 Opening Ceremony

Hudson’s Bay’s In-House Design Team Focused on Fashion and Function

TORONTO, February 9, 2018 – The Canadian Olympic Team was confident, strong and proud as they marched in the Parade of Nations at today’s Olympic Winter Games Opening Ceremony in PyeongChang. Inspired by fierce Canadian spirit and a strong sense of connection, the Canadian Olympic Team captured the world’s attention in a stylish, modern look that is passionately Canadian.

“As the Official Outfitter of Team Canada, our goal was to ignite the country’s Olympic spirit and maintain our position as one of the best-dressed teams at the Olympic Winter Games,” said Alison Coville, President, Hudson’s Bay. “The Opening Ceremony is that first moment when the team comes together as one and we wanted to give our athletes a look that made them feel ready to perform on the world stage and proud to wear the Maple Leaf. These uniforms embody Canadian cool and will have the entire nation cheering them on over the coming weeks.”

Focused on both fashion and function, the Opening Ceremony look was designed in layers for warmth. The key piece is a hooded water-resistant and windproof parka with Canada emblazoned across the chest. The jacket proudly highlights Hudson’s Bay’s iconic stripes and the Canadian Olympic Team Crest and features a concealed front double-zip closure and long ribbed cuffs. It is paired over a black base layer that features a long-sleeve shirt and pant and is topped with a playful pom-pom toque and the 9th edition of Hudson’s Bay iconic Red Mittens.

“We’re Canadians – we know how to dress well, look cool and stay warm!” Coville said.
